Check who did what in the audit log

Search the firm's read-only record of significant actions, filter it by action and date, and export it to a spreadsheet.

The audit log is a read-only record of every significant action in your firm: jobs moving stage, staff changes, engagement letters set up and more. Nobody can edit or delete an entry, so it's what you show a reviewer or regulator.

How do I open the audit log?

Open Firm settingsAudit log. Each row shows When, the Actor who did it (or System for automatic jobs), the Action, the Target it was done to and any Details. The newest entries come first, a page at a time.

You need permission to view the audit log. Partners have it by default. If you see No access to the audit log, ask the firm owner.

What gets recorded?

  • Client work: jobs created, assigned and moved, notes, document requests, signatures sent, signed or declined, and returns marked assessed.
  • Sensitive data: every time someone reveals a TFN, a refund account or your ATO Software ID.
  • Clients and contacts: invites, merges, ABR updates, identity checks and engagements set up.
  • The firm: profile and setting changes, permission changes, two-step resets, data migrations and support access.

AML/CTF, company secretarial and TPB records keep their own history on their own pages, so they aren't in this log.

How do I find something?

  1. Type an action name or an id in Search action or id…. It doesn't search people's names.
  2. Pick one action from All actions.
  3. Set a from and to date. Days run midnight to midnight Melbourne time.

Nothing showing? Try a wider date range or clear the search.

Can I export it?

Yes. Choose Export CSV to download the entries that match your filters, ready to open in a spreadsheet. A very long log is cut off, so narrow the dates for a big export.

How long are entries kept?

Forever, unless you change it. Someone who manages the team can turn on Automatically delete old audit-log entries under Security & records in Firm settingsTeam. There's a minimum keeping period set by law, and entries older than your window are deleted each night.

Deleted entries can't be brought back. Check your record-keeping obligations before you turn it on.
