Sign in, two-step and passkeys
How signing in works, setting up your second step with a passkey or an authenticator app, and what to do if you lose your phone.
- Password
- Second step
- In
Billbook holds tax and bank details, so everyone signs in with a password and a second step. You pick the second step the first time you sign in.
How do I set up my second step?
Choose one when Billbook asks you to Turn on two-step sign-in:
- A passkey: your face, fingerprint or screen lock. Nothing to install and no code to type.
- An authenticator app: a six-digit code from an app on your phone.
For an authenticator app:
- Choose Set up an authenticator app and confirm your password.
- Choose Open my authenticator app, or scan the code from your phone.
- Type the code from the app and choose Turn on.
- Choose Copy codes and keep your backup codes somewhere safe.
It can't be turned off
Two-step sign-in is required for everyone on Billbook.
Do I have to type a code every time?
With a passkey, no. With an app, tick Don't ask again on this device for 24 hours on your own device.
I lost my phone. How do I get in?
On the code screen, choose Lost your device? Use a backup code and type one of your backup codes. Then open Account & security and make New backup codes.
How do I add a passkey later?
In Account & security, under Passkeys, choose Add a passkey. Add one on a second device too, so losing one doesn't lock you out.
I forgot my password. What now?
Choose Forgot password? on the sign-in page, then Email me a reset link.
How do I sign out of other devices?
Under Where you’re signed in, sign out one device, or choose Sign out everywhere else. Billbook also signs you out after a while with no activity.
