Find your way around Billbook
Where everything lives. The menus along the top, the New button, search with ⌘K, your home page and the menus on a phone.
- Menus
- New
- Search
- Settings
Everything sits in one bar across the top. The menus are on the left, and your business, the bell and your account are on the right.
What's in the menus?
Sales, Purchases, Bank, Payroll, Accounting and Contacts. Each menu groups the screens for one part of your books, and you only see the ones your role allows. The Billbook mark at the far left takes you back to Home.
How do I make something quickly?
Choose New next to search and pick Invoice, Quote, Bill or Contact.
How do I search?
- Press ⌘K on a Mac or Ctrl K on Windows, or choose Search….
- Type a few letters of a page, a contact, an invoice number, a bill or a product.
- Use the arrow keys and press Enter to open it.
Type a whole sentence, like "invoices overdue this month", and Billbook works out the screen for you.
What's on my home page?
What you're owed, what you owe, money in and out this month, your bank accounts and cash over the last year. Under Accounts you're watching, choose Edit to pick accounts like sales or wages and see their totals at a glance.
Where are settings and my account?
Choose your business's name at the top right, then the settings option at the top of that list. Your own sign-in, notifications and theme are under your photo or initials, in Account & security.
How does it work on a phone?
The menus move to tabs along the bottom. The round Create button in the middle makes new things, and More holds every other screen, search and Settings.

Ask Billbook to open the right screen
Type what you want in plain words and Billbook opens the screen for it, already filled in. It never saves or sends anything for you.
Run more than one business
Add another business or your sole trader books, and switch between them from the top bar with one sign-in.
