Getting started

Ask Billbook to open the right screen

Type what you want in plain words and Billbook opens the screen for it, already filled in. It never saves or sends anything for you.

  1. Open search
  2. Type it
  3. Check the screen
  4. You save it

Ask Billbook lives in search. Write what you want the way you'd say it, and it opens the screen with the details filled in for you to check.

How do I ask?

  1. Press ⌘K, or Ctrl K on Windows, or choose Search….
  2. Type a sentence, like "quote for a deck repair for my new customer" or "profit and loss for last quarter".
  3. Choose the Ask Billbook row.
  4. Check the screen it opens, then save or send it yourself.

What can it do?

  • Start an invoice, quote, bill or contact, with the customer or supplier and lines filled in.
  • Start a pay run or add an employee, when payroll is on.
  • Open a report for the dates you name, like profit and loss, balance sheet, or who owes you.
  • Find invoices, bills, quotes and contacts, such as unpaid or overdue invoices.

It only opens screens

Nothing is saved, sent or paid until you do it. It follows your role too, so it won't open a screen you can't use.

What if it isn't sure who I mean?

If more than one contact matches, it asks which one. Pick from the list, or choose Someone else to choose or add them on the next screen.

Is it included in my plan?

It's free for everyone for now, while Billbook is new. After that it's part of the Pro plan, and on Free you'll see See plans instead.
