Read your balance sheet
See what your business owns and owes on a date, and compare it with earlier dates.
The balance sheet is a snapshot on one date: what the business owns (assets), what it owes (liabilities), and the difference (equity, the owners' share).
How do I run it?
- Open AccountingReportsBalance sheet.
- Set the As at date.
You'll see Total assets, Total liabilities and Net assets, which always equals Total equity.
How do I compare dates?
- In Compare with, choose how many earlier dates to show.
- In Compare by, choose Same dates, earlier years or Earlier month-ends.
Check it against real life
Your bank balances here should match your bank statements on that date. If they don't, there's something to reconcile.
Where do opening balances and assets show?
Balances you brought across from your old system and your registered fixed assets appear here from their dates.
