A manual journal moves amounts between accounts by hand: accruals, depreciation, corrections. Every journal has debits and credits that add up to the same total.
How do I post a journal?
- Open AccountingBooksManual journals and choose New journal.
- Fill in the Narration and the Date.
- Set Amounts are if GST is involved.
- Pick an account on each line and type a debit or a credit. Add a line adds more.
- When it says Balanced, choose Post journal.
Not finished?
Save as draft keeps it without touching your accounts. Open it from the Drafts tab later, or Discard it.
How do I undo a posted journal?
Open it and choose Void. It comes out of your accounts and reports, and that can't be undone. A journal dated on or before a lock date can't be voided.
How do I set up a repeating journal?
- Choose Repeating journal.
- Give it a Schedule name and pick Repeat every.
- Add an End date if it should stop.
- Under Each time, choose Post it or Save it as a draft.
- Add the lines and choose Save schedule.
The first one is raised on the date you entered. On the Repeating tab you can Pause, Resume or End a schedule.
