Close past periods with lock dates
Stop anyone changing transactions in a period you've finished, and see recent changes to your books.
A lock date closes your books up to a day. Nothing dated on or before it can be added, changed or voided, so a finished quarter or year stays the way it was reported.
How do I set a lock date?
- Open AccountingAdvancedOpening balances & lock dates.
- Under Lock dates, pick a date in Lock your team out up to. The date itself is locked too.
- Choose Save.
To open the period again, choose Remove lock.
When to lock
Lock up to the end of each BAS period once you've recorded it as lodged, and up to your year end once your accountant has finished.
What does my accountant's lock do?
Your lock stops your team. Your adviser can still make changes in locked periods. They can also set their own lock that stops everyone, including themselves. The screen tells you which locks are on and up to when.
Who can change lock dates?
The owner, an admin or your accountant. Everyone else sees the lock but not the form.
Where do I see what changed?
Recent changes at the bottom lists the latest journals posted or voided, opening balance and lock date changes, and recodes, with the date and whether your adviser made them.
