A budget is a target for each income and expense account, month by month, for a year. Budget vs actual then shows how you're tracking.
How do I create a budget?
- Open AccountingAdvancedBudgets and choose New budget.
- Give it a Name and pick the First month.
- Under For, leave it as the whole business or pick a tracking option.
- Tick Start from last year's actuals to copy last year's figures, and use Adjust by to raise or lower them.
- Choose Create budget.
How do I fill in the months?
- Click a month next to an account and type an amount.
- Fill copies the first month across the row.
- Choose Save budget.
Budgets are in whole dollars, excluding GST.
How do I compare it with what happened?
On the budget, choose Budget vs actual. You'll also find it in AccountingReportsAll reports, with a Budget picker.
Can I put an old budget away?
Use its menu and choose Archive. The figures are kept and you can restore it from the Archived tab.
