Partner Program Terms

Version pp-2026-10 · in effect from 4 October 2026

The gist

  • Bring a business to Billbook and earn a share of what it pays for Pro, for as long as it stays with you.
  • Payouts are monthly, by Stripe, once we've verified your practice. We do the tax invoices (RCTIs).
  • Tell your clients you may get a referral fee. Our emails say so too, but your own disclosure still counts.
  • A partner or admin accepts these terms for the practice in Billbook Practice. They sit alongside the Terms of Use and Practice Terms.

This summary helps you read the document. The full text below is what applies.

1. What you get

  • The practice app and your firm’s own books (Pro, with payroll) are free, forever.
  • Each business you bring to Billbook gets 30 days of Pro free. They add a card to start.
  • You earn 15% of what that business pays for Pro, excluding GST, from its first payment, for as long as it stays on Pro with you.
  • Once a business has paid for 6 months of Pro, you also get a one-off $100 bonus. It’s paid after month 6, never before, and only once per business.

2. Which clients count

  • Businesses new to Billbook that you bring in through the practice app: books you held and handed over, or clients who accepted your invitation and set up or claimed their business.
  • Not counted: businesses already on Billbook, an ABN or person already using Billbook, people who sign up on their own and connect you later, your firm’s own books, and businesses owned by your own staff.
  • Only the first firm to bring a business in earns on it. It never moves to another firm.

3. When it stops

  • It pauses if the business cancels Pro or moves to the Free plan, and starts again if it comes back to Pro with you.
  • It ends if the business disconnects you or moves to another accountant. It only restarts if you’re reconnected as their accountant.
  • Nothing is earned during the free month. Refunds and chargebacks come off later payouts.

4. Getting paid

  • We pay monthly, on the 1st. Each payment waits 30 days first, to allow for refunds and chargebacks.
  • The minimum payout is $50. Anything less rolls over to the next month.
  • Payouts go to a payout account you set up with Stripe (our payments provider), which checks your identity and takes your Australian bank details.
  • Your practice needs to be verified first (we check your TPB registration). Until then, what you earn is kept for you and paid once you’re verified.

5. Tax invoices (RCTI) and GST

  • You agree that we issue a recipient created tax invoice (RCTI) for each payout, and that you won’t issue your own tax invoice for these referral fees.
  • If you’re registered for GST, we add 10% GST to each payout and show it on the RCTI. You agree to tell us straight away if you stop being registered, or if your ABN changes.
  • If you’re not registered for GST, the RCTI shows no GST.

6. Telling your clients

  • Referral fees are something your clients should know about. Under the TPB Code of Professional Conduct and APES 110, you need to tell clients you may receive a referral fee from Billbook, and handle any conflict of interest.
  • Our invitation emails and sign-up pages already say: “Your accountant may receive a referral fee from Billbook.” That helps, but it doesn’t replace your own disclosure.

7. Changes

  • We can change these terms for clients brought in later, with 90 days’ notice. Clients you’ve already brought in keep the terms they joined under.
  • We may hold a payout while we check unusual activity (for example, lots of refunds, or the same card paying for many businesses). We’ll tell you if we do.
