Find and fix reconciliation mistakes
Undo a wrong match, bring back an excluded line, and use the reconciliation report to find what doesn't agree.
Matched a line to the wrong thing, or the balances don't agree? Each account has four tabs: Reconcile, Bank statements, Account transactions and Reconciliation report. Between them you can find and fix almost anything.
How do I undo a wrong match?
Straight after, choose Undo on the message that pops up. Later on:
- Open the account's Bank statements tab and find the line.
- Choose Unreconcile, then confirm.
The line goes back to your reconcile list. Whatever it was matched to stays in your books.
How do I remove something I created while reconciling?
If you coded a line and it made the wrong spend or receive money entry, unreconcile the line first. Then open the entry on the Account transactions tab and choose Void this transaction.
Where did an excluded line go?
Lines you exclude show as Excluded on the Bank statements tab. Choose Restore to put one back in your reconcile list.
Excluding isn't deleting
Only exclude lines that really aren't business money, or duplicates. An excluded payment never reaches your books.
Why don't Billbook and the bank agree?
Open the Reconciliation report tab and set the As at date to your statement's date. It starts from the Balance in Billbook, then lists:
- What's in Billbook but not yet on the statement.
- What's on the statement but not yet in Billbook.
Together they give the Expected statement balance. If it matches your real statement, you see Reconciled. Nothing unexplained.. If not, the gap is shown, and it's often a missing statement, a line excluded by mistake or an opening balance that's off.
