Bring in your bank transactions, and reconcile them
Add your bank account, import a statement from your internet banking and match every line to your books.
- Add account
- Import statement
- Find matches
- OK each line
Reconciling checks every bank line against your books, so the two agree. It's how you know your reports are right. Billbook does most of the matching; you look it over and say OK.
Bank feeds
Live bank feeds Coming soon bring transactions in every day. Until then, you import a statement file from your internet banking.
How do I add a bank account?
- Open Bank and choose Add bank account.
- Enter the Account name, type, BSB and account number.
- Choose Add account.
How do I import a bank statement?
- Download a CSV, OFX or QFX file from your internet banking.
- Open the account, choose New, then Import a statement.
- Drop the file in and choose Import.
Lines you've already imported are skipped, so importing the same file twice does no harm.
How do I match the lines?
- On the Reconcile tab, choose Find matches.
- Take the lines it's sure about all at once, with the OK all button.
- For the rest, check the account and GST, then choose OK.
Open a row to see what you did last time with that payee. Under More you can Record as a transfer, Split across accounts, Exclude this line or choose Don’t suggest this.
One payment, several invoices?
Choose Find & match, tick the ones that add up, then OK and reconcile.
On the Free plan, the AI part of Find matches is limited. Exact matches always work.
If a line is dated in a period whose BAS is already lodged, Billbook still reconciles it and shows a warning. The lodged BAS won't change. See Fix a mistake after you've lodged a BAS.
How do I undo a match?
Straight after, choose Undo on the message that pops up. Later, find the line on the Bank statements tab and choose Unreconcile.
