Add an employee
Add someone you pay, with their tax, super and bank details, and set up their usual pay.
- Basics
- Tax
- Super
- Bank
- Pay template
Add each person before their first pay. Start with the basics; you can fill in super and bank details later, as long as it's before payday.
Coming soon
Payroll opens once Billbook can report pays to the ATO through Single Touch Payroll (STP) Coming soon.
How do I add someone?
- Open PayrollEmployees and choose Add employee.
- Fill in Personal details. Add their Email so payslips reach them.
- Under Employment, set the Employment type, Start date and Pay calendar.
- Choose how they're Paid by: an hourly rate or a salary.
- Choose Add employee.
What tax details do I need?
The answers from their TFN declaration (the tax file number form new staff fill in). Enter the Tax file number, Residency for tax, and whether they claim the tax-free threshold. Billbook works out the tax to withhold from these.
Where does their super go?
Pick one under Super:
- A super fund: enter the fund's details from their choice form.
- Their own SMSF: a self-managed fund, with its bank account and Electronic service address (ESA).
- Not chosen yet: fill this in before their first pay.
Paying extra super, like salary sacrifice? Open Extra super, and SG exemptions.
Can I split their pay across accounts?
Yes. Under Bank accounts, choose Add an account. The last account gets whatever's left.
What's a pay template?
What they're normally paid each pay. Open their record, choose Add a line under Pay template, then Save template. Pay runs start from it, and you can still change any pay before you post it.
