Pay bills, one at a time or in a batch
Record a bill as paid, or pay several at once and download one bank file for your internet banking.
- Pick bills
- Record payment
- Bank file
- Upload to bank
Recording a payment marks the bill paid and takes it off what you owe. Billbook doesn't send the money itself: you pay from your internet banking.
How do I pay one bill?
- Open the bill from PurchasesBills.
- Choose Record payment.
- Check the amount and Date paid, and choose the account it was Paid from.
- Choose Record payment.
Paying part of it is fine: the rest stays owing. Pay more than you owe and the extra is kept as credit with that supplier.
How do I pay several bills at once?
- Open PurchasesBatch payments.
- Tick the bills to pay, or Select all.
- Set the Payment date, Pay from and a Reference.
- Choose the pay button. It shows how many bills you've picked.
- Choose Download bank file (ABA) and upload it in your internet banking.
First time?
The bank file needs your bank's direct entry details once. Choose Set up bank file details and copy them from your internet banking.
A batch pays every bill in full, in your own currency. Bills in a foreign currency are paid one at a time.
I recorded a payment by mistake. How do I undo it?
Open the bill and choose Remove payment next to the payment. The bill goes back to owing.
Paid in a batch?
Removing one payment from a batch removes the whole batch, so every bill in it goes back to owing.
The payment shows in your bank as one line for the batch. The reference you set is what you'll match it to when you reconcile.
