Workpapers
Back up each balance with a workpaper, tie it to the ledger and track it through review to sign-off.
- Add a workpaper
- Tie to the ledger
- Sign off
A workpaper is your evidence for one balance, like a bank reconciliation or a loan schedule. Billbook compares the figure you've supported with the ledger, so any gap stands out.
How do I add a workpaper?
- Open the client and go to BooksWorkpapers.
- Pick the Financial year, then choose New workpaper.
- Pick the Account (optional) it supports and give it a Title.
- Enter the Balance per workpaper and any Notes.
- Choose Add workpaper.
How do I see if it ties out?
Each row shows Per WP, Per ledger and the Variance between them. A variance shows in red until the two agree. A workpaper with no account shows a dash for the ledger side.
Link a workpaper to an account and the ledger figure updates by itself as journals post.
Can I change a workpaper?
Only its status. The title, balance and notes can't be edited after you add it, so delete it and add a new one if they're wrong.
How do I track review?
Change the status on the row: Not started, In progress, Queried, Reviewed or Signed off. The count at the top shows how many are signed off.
Adding, reviewing and deleting workpapers needs permission to manage statements. Without it you see the statuses only.
Can I delete a workpaper?
Yes, with the bin icon on its row, then confirm. It can't be undone.
