Set up ATO lodging
Work through the short setup that lets your firm lodge returns and activity statements with the ATO from Billbook.
- Practice verified
- Agent numbers
- Software ID
- Terms and contact
- Two-step sign-in
Lodging through Billbook stays off for your firm until every setup step is done. Only people who manage the firm can do it. Until then, lodge in Online services for agents and record it as lodged in Billbook.
How do I set it up?
Open Firm settingsATO lodging and work down the steps.
- Billbook has verified your practice: the Billbook team checks every practice by hand.
- Your registered agent numbers: enter your Tax agent RAN and, if you have one, your BAS agent RAN, then Save. The tax agent number is used for income tax, and for BAS unless you add a BAS agent number.
- Software ID and Access Manager: choose Create your Software ID, give it to the ATO in Access Manager, then tick the box to say you have.
- ATO lodging terms: tick I accept these terms for my firm. and choose Accept.
- Lodgement contact: the Name and Phone of who the ATO should call about your lodgements.
- Two-step sign-in for everyone: choose Require it for everyone.
The status box at the top counts the steps done. When every step is done, choose Switch on ATO lodging. Once it's on, lodge buttons work for the clients each person is assigned to.
Your Software ID stays masked. Choose Show to see and copy it. Each time it's shown, that's recorded in the Firm settingsAudit log.
RAN or TPB number?
Your registered agent number (RAN) is the ATO's number for your firm, and isn't your TPB registration number. Add your TPB registration on your Firm settingsFirm profile first.
In Access Manager, search for Billbook under your hosted SBR software services and enter your Software ID. You need to sign in with myID as the principal authority or an authorised administrator.
What does each client need?
The client's TaxIncome tax shows Before you can lodge with anything missing, like a TFN, a date of birth, a refund account, or a business that hasn't nominated your firm at the ATO yet. Each has a link to fix it on the client's ClientDetails. See Client ATO details.
Can I switch it off?
Yes. Choose Switch off. Nobody at your firm can lodge until it's back on, and nothing already lodged changes.
