Xero's 2026 price rise: what it costs now and your options

Xero's Australian prices went up on 1 July 2026. The old and new price of each plan, what it adds up to over a year, and what you can do about it.

Xero put its Australian prices up on 1 July 2026, for new and existing subscribers. For the plans in Xero's update, the rise is between $2 and $28 a month, and Xero also stopped its discount for running more than one organisation. All prices here include GST and are as at October 2026.

Below is what each plan cost before and after, what that adds up to over a year, and what you can do about it. We make Billbook, one of the alternatives, so every figure links back to Xero's own pages.

What changed on 1 July 2026Link to this section

Xero announced the change on its pricing update page (opens in a new tab) (the archived copy, checked October 2026, as the page now redirects to Xero's current pricing (opens in a new tab)). Three things changed:

  • every plan's monthly price went up
  • the change applied to existing customers too, not only new ones
  • the multi-organisation discount stopped, although promo codes already issued are honoured until they expire

In dollars, the bigger the plan, the bigger the rise. As a share, Ignite went up by about 6%, Grow about 4% and Comprehensive 7%. The Ultimate plans went up by 10% to 13%.

Xero also lists Ultimate 100 at $300 a month and Ultra at $500 a month (as at October 2026). New customers can get 90% off for their first 3 months until 2 November 2026, or a month free instead.

What it means for you, plan by planLink to this section

On IgniteLink to this section

The rise itself is small. The bigger question is whether Ignite still fits. It allows 20 invoices and 5 bills a month (opens in a new tab), and Xero's page says the limit counts both approving and sending, and that transactions from connected apps can count too. If you keep bumping into it, the step up is Grow at $78 a month, more than double.

On Grow or ComprehensiveLink to this section

You're paying $36 or $84 more a year for the same plan. The main things Comprehensive adds over Grow are multi-currency, payroll for 5 people instead of 2, full receipt capture and budgets. If you don't use those, Grow does the same job for less.

On an Ultimate planLink to this section

This is where the rise bites. Ultimate is priced by how many people you pay, and Ultimate 50 is $336 a year more than before. If your headcount has dropped, check whether a smaller Ultimate plan covers you. Projects come with every Ultimate plan, so a smaller one keeps them.

Running more than one organisationLink to this section

Losing the multi-organisation discount means each organisation now costs the full price. If you run a few businesses, or keep a quiet company or trust on its own subscription, that's often the biggest change of all. Have a look at whether each one still needs its own paid plan.

Your optionsLink to this section

Stay with Xero and right-size your planLink to this section

For a lot of people this is the simplest move. Look at the last three months:

  1. How many invoices and bills did you enter? Under 20 invoices and 5 bills a month fits Ignite.
  2. How many people did you pay? Each plan includes payroll for a set number of people.
  3. Did you use multi-currency, budgets or projects? If not, you may not need Comprehensive or Ultimate.

The bottom lineLink to this section

The 2026 rise is a few dollars a month on the small plans and up to a few hundred dollars a year on the bigger ones, more again if you used the multi-organisation discount. Before you do anything, check you're on the plan you need. Then, if it still costs more than it's worth to you, compare the alternatives with their own published prices.
