Put clients into groups

Keep a family or one owner's companies and trusts together, see their open work in one place and assign staff to the lot.

  1. New group
  2. Add clients
  3. Assign staff

A group is your own folder of clients you look at together: a household, or one owner's operating company, trust and super fund. Groups are optional, and a client can be in more than one.

How do I make a group?

  1. Open ClientsAll clients and switch the view to By group.
  2. Choose New group.
  3. Give it a Name, pick a Kind and, if you like, a colour and a Description (optional).
  4. Choose Create group.

How do I add a client to a group?

Open the client, choose the people button at the top, then Add to a group. Type a group's name to find it, or type a new one to make it there and then.

Inside a group, use Add an individual… or Add an entity… to pull in clients you already have.

You can also add many at once from ClientsAcross clientsInsights: tick the clients, then use Add to group….

How do I take a client out of a group?

Open the group, choose remove beside the client, then confirm Take out of the group. Or open the client, choose the people button, then Change groups. The client itself doesn't change.

What does a group show?

Choose a group in the By group view to open it. You'll see its Clients, work Open across the group (jobs, document requests, signing and client questions), its People, shared Notes and Staff.

Staff on a group cover every client in it, including ones you add later. It's the quickest way to give a whole family to one preparer.

How do I tidy up groups?

  • Edit changes its name, kind, colour or description.
  • New client in this group adds a client straight into it.
  • Merge into… moves its clients, notes and staff into another group.
  • Delete group removes the group only. Its clients stay exactly as they are.
