Getting started

Try Billbook Practice with sample clients

Open a sample practice full of made-up clients and work, try anything you like, then reset it or delete it.

  1. Open the sample
  2. Look around
  3. Reset
  4. Back to your practice

The sample practice is a second practice filled with made-up clients and a year of work. Try things there without touching your real clients.

How do I open it?

  • Choose your name at the top right, then Explore with sample clients.
  • Or, on the screen where you pick or set up a firm, choose Explore with sample clients.

The first time, Billbook builds it for you, which takes a little while. Keep the tab open. After that it's in your list of firms under your name, marked Sample.

What's in it?

  • Clients, their people, groups and leads.
  • Jobs on the board, due dates and follow-ups.
  • Tax returns, BAS, PAYG, FBT and TPAR.
  • Books, ledgers, assets and workpapers.
  • Time, invoices and money owed.
  • AML, ASIC, TPB records, documents and signing.

Is it kept apart from my real practice?

Yes. It's a separate practice with its own made-up clients. A strip across the top of every page says You’re in a sample practice.

Nothing in the sample is real, and nothing is sent or lodged. It never emails anyone, lodges with the ATO, takes payments or invites real people.

The sample is yours alone. Your team doesn't see it.

How do I get back to my own practice?

Choose Back to your practice in the strip at the top. You can also pick your firm from the menu under your name.

How do I start it again or remove it?

  • Reset clears everything you changed and starts the sample clients fresh.
  • Open the menu beside it and choose Delete sample practice to remove it. You can open a new one any time.
