Getting started

Work in more than one practice

Join another firm from its invitation, start a new practice, switch between your practices, and hop across to your own business books.

  1. Invitation
  2. Join
  3. Switch practice

One sign-in can belong to several practices, say your own firm and one you contract for. Each practice keeps its own clients, team and settings, and you work in one at a time.

How do I join another practice?

The practice invites you from their team page, and you get an email.

  1. Open the link in the email.
  2. If you're new to Billbook, fill in Your name and Password, tick to agree to the terms, and choose Create account & join. Confirm your email from the link we send.
  3. Already have a sign-in? Choose Sign in, then Sign in & join.
  4. Signed in already? Choose Accept & join.

The invitation only works for the email it was sent to. If you're signed in as someone else, sign out and use that address.

What happens after I join?

Billbook asks for two quick things: your Full name and, if you like, your TPB registration so your CPE hours can be tracked. Choose Go to the board and you're in.

If you haven't set up two-step sign-in yet, you do that first.

How do I switch practice?

  1. Choose your name at the top right.
  2. Under Your firms, pick the practice.

You land on that practice's home page. If you belong to more than one and aren't in one yet, Billbook asks you to Choose a firm after signing in.

It may have expired, been withdrawn, or been used already. Ask the practice to send a new one from their team page.

Can I see my own business's books too?

If you also keep books in Billbook for a business, the menu under your name has Switch to Billbook. It opens your businesses in the Billbook app.

Can I start another practice of my own?

Not at the moment. Each login can set up one practice of its own; you can still join other practices when they invite you.
