Sign up, sign in, two-step and passkeys
Create your sign-in, sign in safely with a passkey or an authenticator app, reset a forgotten password and manage your devices.
- Password
- Second step
- Signed in
Billbook holds your clients' tax and bank details, so everyone signs in with a second step as well as their password. It's required for every person and can't be turned off.
How do I create a sign-in for a new practice?
- On the sign-in page, choose Set up your practice.
- Enter Your name, your Work email and a Password.
- Tick to agree to the terms, then choose Continue.
- Open the confirmation link we email you. It signs you in.
- Turn on two-step sign-in, then name your firm.
Joining a firm that's already on Billbook? Don't sign up. Use the invitation link in your email instead.
What can I use as my second step?
- A passkey: your face, fingerprint or screen lock. It counts as your second step on its own.
- An authenticator app that shows a six-digit code.
You set one up the first time you sign in, under Turn on two-step sign-in.
How do I add a passkey?
- Choose your name at the top right, then Your account.
- Under Passkeys, choose Add a passkey.
- Follow your device's prompt.
Next time, choose Sign in with a passkey on the sign-in page.
How do I set up an authenticator app?
- On Your account, go to Authenticator app.
- Confirm your password.
- Scan the QR code with your app, or type the key in by hand.
- Enter the code and choose Turn on.
- Save your backup codes somewhere safe. Each one works once.
Lost your phone? Sign in with Use a backup code instead, or ask a firm admin to reset your two-step from the team page.
I forgot my password. What now?
- On the sign-in page, choose Forgot password?.
- Enter your Work email and choose Email me a reset link.
- Open the link, enter a New password twice and choose Save new password.
You're signed out on your other devices. Reset links work once and don't last long, so use the latest email. If it's expired, choose Send a new link.
How do I change my password?
Under Password on your account, enter your current and new password and choose Update password.
How do I change my name or photo?
Under Profile on your account, change your Name or choose Upload photo, then Save. Your photo shows on the board, backlog and team list. Your sign-in email can't be changed here.
How do I choose emails about client questions?
Under Question emails, pick One daily summary, Every message or Never. Every question is in the Questions inbox either way.
How do I sign out other devices?
Under Active sessions, choose Revoke beside a device, or Sign out everywhere else. You may be asked to sign in again first to see the list.
Why was I signed out?
Billbook signs you out after a while without activity, to keep client details safe. Sign in again to carry on.
Why am I asked to agree to the terms again?
When our terms change, you see We’ve updated our terms once. Read them, tick to agree and choose Agree and continue to get straight back in.
